Are you a marketer in the Chicago area? Here are some great events that you'll want to attend in August.

Chicago is a vibrant city that's full of people who want to connect and share their expertise. At Diagram, we love to engage with other marketers in our community, and we want to help people make the most of the knowledge and expertise that's available in the Chicagoland area. Here's the latest installment in our monthly roundup of marketing events in the area, looking at what you can expect to take advantage of this August:

Content Jam

Content Jam is Chicago's largest marketing conference, and it will be taking place on August 3-4. It will feature a wealth of sessions about content strategy, creation, promotion, and measurement, as well as the opportunity to network with hundreds of other marketers in the area. I'm excited to be attending this year, so if you're coming, be sure to look for me and say hi!

Vistaprint on the Road

Vistaprint, a company that provides services like business cards, signs, and other marketing materials, is conducting a road trip throughout the year in which they connect with small businesses across the country. From August 1-5, they'll be in Bolingbrook, and during that time, they are offering complimentary digital marketing consultations, headshots, product samples, and giveaways. They'll be accepting walk-ins, but you can also make an appointment. This is a great opportunity for small businesses who are looking to get started with online marketing!

Google Events

Google's Chicago office is presenting two free marketing events on Thursday, August 11: Searching for Answers in Healthcare Marketing and Searching for Answers in Education Marketing. This is a great opportunity for marketers to learn about the state of these industries and of online search, as well as how to use search engine optimization (SEO) to drive business.

Milwaukee HUG

While Milwaukee is a bit outside of the Chicago area, we highly recommend attending a HubSpot User Group (HUG) if you get the chance (we had a great time at July's Chicago HUG!). This month's meeting in Milwaukee will feature a discussion by HubSpot's Luke Summerfield about Growth-Driven Design.

CHICAGO INNOVATION EXCHANGE

We featured a couple events from the Chicago Innovation Exchange at the University of Chicago last month, and this month, CIE is offering a class called Marketing With Social Media: Periscope. This free class will take place on Thursday, August 18, and it will feature a presentation from Marki Lemons-Ryhal about how to use Twitter's live video platform as a marketing tool.

General Assembly

General Assembly provides some great career training in a variety of areas. They have several classes taking place in Chicago in August:

Wednesday, August 10 - Build Your Brand With Podcasting on Social + Digital Media. If you're looking to get started with podcasting, this free discussion with Jaime Black, Michael Heidemann, and Cher Vincent is sure to be helpful and informative.

Wednesday, August 17 - How to Master Instagram. This class will provide an overview of using Instagram for marketing and working with Instagram Ads. Tickets are $40.

Thursday, August 18 - Demystifying Adtech. A free panel discussion looking at the technology that powers digital advertising and the role of "big data" in the marketing space.

Thursday, August 25 - Introduction to Google AdWords. Learn how to get started with pay per click (PPC) advertising through Google AdWords. Tickets are $60.

Other Events

Wednesday, August 3 - Spark Chicago: Build Brand Loyalty With a Unique Email Strategy. A free interactive workshop led by Melanie Adcock, looking at how to build successful email campaigns.

Thursday, August 4 - Social Media Strategy Workshop. A session looking at how to plan and implement a social media strategy that will build and nurture relationships with customers. Tickets are $50.

Thursday, August 4 - Taste of Analytics. A free "happy hour" session that looks at how data analytics can provide value for marketing and other aspects of business.

Thursday, August 4 - Create the Social Media Your Brand Deserves. A workshop that will teach attendees how to develop a social media strategy that fits your brand. Tickets are $20, or free for members of 2112.

Saturday and Sunday, August 20-21 - 10th Global Mixx Music & Film Forum. This two-day conference will provide professionals in the music, film, and marketing industries with opportunities to network and attend workshops, and panels discussing all aspects of the business. Tickets are $35 per day.

Thursday, August 25 - Chicago Startup Stories. As part of a series of events in which local business owners share their stories, this month's installment features Erik Huberman, who will be discussing eCommerce and digital marketing.

We're excited about these August events, but we've probably overlooked at least a few notable activities. If you have an event that we didn't mention, or if you want us to include your upcoming event in any future roundups, please leave a comment and let us know. We hope to see you in August!
