Episerver has been recognized in Gartner's annual Magic Quadrant. Diagram's team shares how our experiences with Episerver show that this recognition is deserved.

For the second consecutive year, Episerver has been named a “Leader” in Gartner’s annual Magic Quadrant for Web Content Management report, ranking it among the best content management platforms available today. At Diagram, this doesn’t come as much of a surprise; we’ve been building websites with Episerver for several years, and we've witnessed their steady growth and competitive improvements. Their success has largely been driven by a well planned strategy to build a comprehensive digital experience platform that enables clients to build powerful, content-rich, personalized sites. An ever increasing number of companies and organizations are recognizing the value and opportunity adopting a platform like Episerver can bring.

While making the Magic Quadrant is largely a testament to the platform’s performance in user experience (content delivery, interoperability, and personalization) as well as content creation (content editing, document management, and version control), when we evaluate a platform to use for our client’s websites, we believe the experience of the developers, designers, and marketers building the site is a key factor as well.

After all, building websites is what we do everyday, and nobody likes to work with a tool that gets in the way of delivering a successful solution. At the heart of this is the fact that each site we build comes with its own unique set of requirements that will define success. Our goal is to make sure the sites we build always meet or exceed all expectations. In order to do this, we need flexibility and reliable output from the platform to shape and model into something great.

So what makes Episerver our chosen solution in this regard?  I decided to ask our production and marketing teams to contribute a sentence or two about what they felt made Episerver deserving of its successful placement on the Magic Quadrant and what sets it apart from other web content management platforms. The initial responses were as follows:

Yeah, they’re a bunch of comedians.  But after getting that out of their systems, they provided some valuable feedback:

“It's obvious developer productivity wasn't an after thought. I spend way less time fighting to get data out of Episerver than I ever did with any other platform.”
- Dustin Sier, Web Developer

"Having everything as structured content is a big win. It keeps things much more organized, and easy to use."
- Joe Mayberry, Web Developer

From a development perspective, getting at the content and being able to display it when, where, and how you want is essential. Episerver is definitely winning in this regard as far as our developers are concerned.

On the flip side, we need to make the site look great as well.  Here’s some feedback about the content display aspects of Episerver:

“[Episerver] is super easy to work with from a front-end perspective… I can grab properties from the object models and put them wherever I want - no markup limitations from Epi!"
- Derrik Engel, Web Designer

“From content author’s point of view, Episerver is a much more user-friendly and powerful tool that is constantly trying to adapt to meet the needs of modern businesses. They’re already more advanced in the basic ways, such as the rich text editor and the drag/drop functionality, but they also have more advanced features like personalization that really do make the possibilities endless. You have all the flexibility you need without having to do as much work as you would in other platforms."
- Kendall Smith, QA Engineer

"I like working with Episerver, because it makes content creation easy and intuitive. I'm also very happy with the process of creating and reusing call-to-action content blocks, and the ability to personalize content to specific visitor groups lets us add more value to the content we publish."
- Matt Brady, Content Specialist

What Episerver brings to the table is a platform that allows our team to do what they do best: be creative. We don’t feel hamstrung by a system that offers overly restrictive options or poorly thought out architecture.  When we work with our clients to come up with outstanding digital solutions, knowing we have design freedom and technical access to well structured content ensures we’ll keep Episerver in our toolset.
