Don't Miss These Chicago Area Marketing Events in September!

We look at the various events taking place in the Chicago area in September 2016 that marketers will want to attend.

At Diagram, we love getting involved with our community, whether in-person or online. Since we're located in the Chicagoland area, we have the opportunity to attend a wide variety of events and meet up with other marketers. We've put together a roundup of events taking place in September 2016, and we hope we can meet you at some of them!

HubSpot User Groups

This month's Chicago HubSpot User Group (HUG) is taking place on Thursday, September 21. While the speaker and topic of discussion are still to be determined, if the previous Chicago HUG was any indication, this month's event should be well worth attending. We hope to see you there!

While it's a bit outside of the Chicago area, the HUG in Madison, Wisconsin will take place on Tuesday, September 27, so if you're nearby, we recommending attending.

Conferences

Channel IQ's Compass 2016 conference will be taking place on September 7-8, and it will feature a number of speakers talking about marketing, sales, eCommerce, and more, as well as opportunities for networking with fellow marketers. Tickets to the event are $347.50 for Channel IQ or Market Track clients and $695.00 for non-clients.

The Omni.Digital conference will be taking place on September 7-8, and it will provide a ton of great speakers and workshops on the topic of creating omnichannel experiences. Tickets to this conference are $1,495.00.

The Bosch Connected World conference, which takes place on September 27-28, will focus on the Internet of Things from both a business and technological perspective, including some valuable sessions about how businesses can take advantage of this new technology. Networking Events

The Illinois Technology Association (ITA) is holding its 17th annual CityLIGHTS Awards on Thursday, September 15 to honor achievements in the local technology community. Tickets to the event are $250.00 for ITA members and $400.00 for non-members. ITA is also holding a showcase to highlight past CityLIGHTS winners, judges, and current success stories on Thursday, September 8. This event is free.

The Chicago Interactive Marketing Association (CIMA) is holding its Annual Wrigley Rooftop on Thursday, September 15. Join Chicago area marketers for a great chance to watch the Cubs play the Milwaukee Brewers! Tickets are $150.00 for CIMA members and $200.00 for non-members.

General Assembly is holding an End of Summer Soiree on Thursday, September 15. Attendees can party and meet up with people in Chicago's marketing and technology community. This event is free.

The Firm Marketing Group and First Fridays Chicago are having a Sunday Funday Yacht Party on Sunday, September 18. Area marketers can meet up to party and bid farewell to the summer in style. Tickets to this event start at $45.00

Classes and Workshops

Wednesday, September 7 - MATTER Workshop: Visual Design Basics. MATTER, a community of healthcare innovators, is offering this workshop that will cover graphic design and user experience, including critiques of attendees' websites. The workshop is free for MATTER members, and $25.00 for non-members.

Tuesday, September 13 - Social Media: What You Need to Know to Be Successful. This class taught by Adam Bianco will look at how small businesses and start-ups can get started using social media to connect with their customers. This class is free for members of 2112, and $20.00 for non-members.

Wednesday, September 14 - Make Connections with Chicago-based Reporters Representing National Media. This class, presented by the Publicity Club of Chicago, will help attendees learn how to get national media coverage for their organizations or clients. The price for this class starts at $40.00 for PCC members and $50.00 for non-members.

Thursday, September 15 - Marketing With Social Media: Instagram. This class, presented by Marki Lemons-Ryhal at the Chicago Innovation Exchange will look at how to use social photo sharing tools in your marketing strategy. This class is free.

Thursday, September 15 - Advanced Content Marketing Workshop. This workshop is presented by Andy Crestodina of Orbit Media, who put on the Content Jam conference, and it looks to be valuable, offering insights on SEO, content creation, social media, and more. Tickets to this class start at $35.00.

Tuesday, September 20 - How to Use Facebook Live in Your PR/Marketing Strategy. This class, by Ximena N. Larkin, will look at how to incorporate live video into your social media publishing efforts. Tickets are $35.00 - $45.00.

Tuesday, September 20 - Demystifying Adtech.This panel discussion from General Assembly and CIMA will look at how big data and emerging technologies affect the world of advertising. This event is free.

Wednesday, September 28 - Learn How to Grow Your Business with Google Advertising. This presentation from Google's Tim Reis will look at how businesses can take advantage of Google's online advertising services. This event is free.

Thursday, September 29 - Understanding How Cross-Cultural Marketing Can Impact Your Communications Strategies. This class from the Publicity Club of Chicago, which is being held in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, will look at how marketers can connect with understand and connect with people in diverse cultural groups. Tickets are $20.00 for PCC members and $35.00 for non-members.
